I had an interesting wow moment yesterday. I saw my cardiologist for my one-year visit after surgery just to make sure everything is OK. Not only am I fine, I’m better. The only thing that concerned him when he checked me before surgery was my woody legs (so swollen they feel like wood) and what is called an S4 gallop heart sound. Basically when you get really big the heart has to work extra hard to pump your blood to the opposite side of your body, thus creating a heart sound that is more like a horse galloping (four total sounds) instead of the normal thump-thump. Well, Friday BOTH conditions were gone! I still have SOME swelling in my legs but he said that’s from me sitting in my chair all day long and wasn’t concerned.
