There’s all kinds of joy in this life. Weddings, births, new jobs, etc. All events that we know and recognize as happy times. Something I learned last year is to find joy in the simple things. Choosing to be joyful about the little things in life that happen throughout the day is important. It’s important for us to realize that even in the darkest times of our lives, there are little places where we can find joy.
So I’m proposing a new idea this year. It’s called Simple Joys. On Twitter, I will be using the hashtag #simplejoys. I’m encouraging readers, friends and mostly myself to look for, find and most importantly, acknowledge the simple joys they come across in life.
Did you have exact change for something you wanted to buy? That’s a simple joy. It’s not earth shattering, but it was a happy moment in your day. Other examples of simple joys I’ve had recently include getting a new copy machine at my job, getting a new billfold that functions, having my laundry come out correctly with no lost, stained or mismatched items, and getting through traffic quicker than normal.
So what simple joys do you experience? Do you let them make your day instead of letting all the stupid events and drama ruin your day? This decision is all about attitude, about making a choice in how you live hyour day to day life.
Will you join me on this journey?
